Dental Imaging

During your visit to Bluebonnet Dental Care, you can expect your oral exam to be accompanied by x-rays or other dental imaging techniques. Dentists use imaging to find cavities, hidden dental structures, bone loss or malignant or benign masses. Learn about each of the dental imaging tools our dentist utilizes, below.

Digital X-Rays

Among the most commonly used dental imaging techniques, digital x-rays do not expose you to as much radiation as film x-rays (up to 90% less). The imaging results help your dentist identify any abnormalities in the gums, teeth and enamel. Unlike film x-rays, digital x-rays yield high quality images almost instantaneously, resulting in shorter dental visits!

Intraoral Camera

Another common dental x-ray, the intraoral camera is used when your dentist needs to take x-rays that show the interior of your mouth as clearly as possible.

Dental imaging helps your dentist make a well-informed diagnosis and treatment plan catered to your unique needs. There are various types of x-rays available for dental imaging. Depending on your symptoms, some x-ray procedures will be more suitable than others.
